Lash Extensions & Spray Tans
Seriously, who needs makeup when you have a fresh tan and gorgeous lash extensions? Truly the best for a get-up-and-go look and if you are like me a lustrous lip gloss and gold hoop earrings finish it up perfectly.
But why are the two said to clash when the appointment time comes? The side reasons have possible complications due to retention, ingredients, and application. So what is the real deal and can we have it all on the same day?
If you are thinking about getting a spray tan but are worried about how it will affect your lash extensions, you are not alone. It is a common concern among women who want to enjoy the benefits of a sun-kissed glow without jeopardizing the health of their lashes.
The good news is that you can safely get a spray tan with lash extensions. However, there are a few things you should keep in mind to make sure your tan does not damage your lashes. Considering how your spray tan is applied and the base of your solution, there is a very low chance it will interact with the bonding or retention time your lashes produce.
Spray tans are applied 1 in 2 ways which are by an automated machine or by an airbrush gun. Airbrushed application assures very little overspray and very little saturation of places like the face and hands that can be over-sprayed in an automated booth.
The other consideration is the base that is used in your spray tan solution. The most common bases are water, alcohol, aloe Vera, and oil. I tend to stick to water-based solutions. Water-based spray tan solutions are the safest kind to use if you have lash extensions. They won't cause any damage or irritation, and they'll give you a beautiful, even tan.
Considering I am not an eyelash technician, I thought I’d call on a trusted pro and ask her advice.
With no hesitation, she said both can absolutely be done in one service keeping in mind that after your solution develops, and you take your first shower. A good wash of the lashes should be done around the waterline to prevent buildup and ensure the fluffiness of the lashes.
Here are some tips on how to take care of your lash extensions after an airbrush spray tan:
-Gently brush your lashes with a clean, dry mascara brush to remove any excess tanning solution.
- Avoid using water or oil-based products on your lashes for at least 24 hours after your tan. This will help to prolong the life of your tan.
- Use a lash serum or conditioner to keep your lashes healthy and hydrated.
With the understanding that Lashes usually have a 24-hour period before they can get wet and sometimes a spray tan can have a quick developing time, you can use your discretion to decide what works best for you.
Airbrush spray tanning and lash extensions are two great ways to improve your appearance. They are both safe and affordable, and they can be done in the comfort of your own home.
